Sangakkara expected to play in first Test
Sri Lanka cricket officials say Kumar Sangakkara’s hamstring injury is not serious and he is expected to play in the first Test against Australia starting at the Gabba, starting on November 8.
Sangakkara was yesterday forced to retire hurt early in his innings on the opening day of the match against a Cricket Australia Chairman’s XI at the Adelaide Oval.
Sri Lanka as 4 for 335 at stumps with veteran opener Sanath Jayasuriya smashing 154 off 153 balls.
Jayasuriya says it is a positive start to the tour.
“[It’s] always good to get a hundred before a Test series, you get inner confidence,” he said.
“We haven’t played much cricket in the longer version of the game so everybody needs to bat a long time and spend some time in the middle.”
