Pressure mounts on Glory boss
Perth Glory manager Ron Smith is struggling to hold on to his job after his side stuttered to a scoreless draw with Adelaide United on the weekend, leaving them four points adrift at the bottom of the A-League ladder.
Perth has yet to win in the first seven games of the A League season and has only scored two goals in that time.
Former striker Bobby Despotovski this week said Smith was out of his depth and called for his dismissal, while some fans arrived at the ground wearing ‘Sack Smith’ T-shirts.
Smith said his players were trying their best and urged supporters to be patient.
“We took the game to them, tried hard to win the game and I hope the fans appreciate that,” he said.
“For me, fans should support the club and it’s too easy to say sack the manager and everything would be hunky-dory.
“They are kidding themselves if that’s what they think.”
