While we often think of carburetors as quaint antiques in this day and age of electronic fuel injection, it was less than a decade ago that carburetors were the norm. Back then, the hot aftermarket upgrade was a jet kit, consisting of a selection of main jets, pilot jets and needles, and maybe some instructions for drilling a few holes. With the introduction of EFI for sportbikes in the late ’90s, the aftermarket likewise took the first tentative steps to modify stock fuel-injection systems for better power and drivability. Up until even a couple of years ago, there were limited choices for an aftermarket upgrade to “rejet” your fuel-injected sportbike, but it seems the aftermarket has finally embraced the technology completely, with new products now being introduced on a regular basis.

Resistors, capacitors and integrated circuits are certainly more mainstream components than the parts that make up a jet kit, and there are correspondingly more companies that can bring an electronic product to market for each new model of sportbike than there were companies that could develop a jet kit. Whereas there were just a handful of jet-kit manufacturers back in the day, and until recently a likewise slim number of aftermarket EFI adjustment units available, in the last year, the list of companies offering EFI tools has grown significantly.
