Custom 2004 Dodge Ram 4x4 - Nokturnal Transition

Customizing a Dodge Ram dualie isn’t the world’s easiest task to accomplish. There just aren’t a lot of aftermarket accessories for Rams, beyond performance-related items. And with their ability to pull or carry just about anything thrown at them, they usually end up in the role of tow pig. Tony “Scooby” Reynaga of Bakersfield, California, bought his 5.9L Cummins diesel Dodge Ram just for that purpose. The plan was to tow his pavement-munching Tahoe from show to show and use it during the week as a means to carry all of his welding gear to and from work. That lasted for a while, but the problem he faced, as many of us know, was that it was a stock Ram. Cory Scott’s ‘71 Chevy truck is incredibly deceiving, to say the least. It looks like it’s just a really cool classic truck, hammered over 22s, but if you take a closer look at the body, you will realize that what looks like the original trim has been completely painted on. You might be asking why someone would do so. The fact that Cory is the owner of a paint and body business named Kustom Werx in Conroe, Texas, may give you some indication why it has a trick and misleading paintjob.

Greg Miller from Gulfport, Mississippi, is a guy who is surrounded by custom vehicles once a year. You may ask why would custom trucks come to this guy? What makes him special? The answer is: Besides being a gearhead through and through, Greg also puts on the Scrapin’ the Coast show. That’s right; the guy who built this sweet Midori Green ‘52 is also a show promoter. To say the bar was set pretty high for whatever he builds would be an understatement. If you’re the guy putting on the show, your ride better be lower, cleaner, and down-right awesome, if you don’t want to catch any flack from the guys who enter their trucks for judging. After two years of cutting, welding, and sanding, Greg’s truck is a testament to the results you’ll get with high standards and talented hands.

When Dennis Phillips took early delivery of his ‘02 Dodge Ram, the initial intention was to do absolutely nothing to this truck. It’s reason for existing was to be a tow vehicle for one of Dennis’ other customs. Not long after buying the truck, he found himself standing in the middle of Ekstensive Metalworks’ showroom, in Houston, talking with the man, the myth, and the legend, Bill Carlton. After an in-depth conversation with Bill about having one of the first full custom Rams of the ‘02 model year, Dennis started pondering the thought. By the time he got home, his mind was set, so he called Bill and dropped a deposit for a groundpunishing suspension.
